Clever Gardening Technique

Foil Hungry Birds
To protect your fruit crops from hungry birds, hang blank CDs in the branches. Run a string through the center hole, tie a loop, and hang as many CDs as you can spare throughout your garden to scare away starlings and other fruit-loving birds. As the plastic disks twirl and flutter in the breeze, light is reflected around the garden. For some reason, the moving light keeps birds at bay!

Tool or Gardening Product

I have used chopsticks in my garden for years. They have served as plant tags, digging tools, support stakes, irrigation markers, probes, and dibbles. I always save the wooden disposable chopsticks from Asian restaurants and keep them in my tool basket. Do the same and I'll bet you'll find uses for them in your own garden!
