Christmas at Dunsmuir
Christmas at Dunsmuir Historic Mansion in Oakland has been a Bay Area holiday tradition since 1971, delighting visitors of all ages. With mansion tours, caroling, a holiday craft marketplace, luncheons, holiday teas, carriage rides, children's activities, music, dancing, stilt walkers, puppet shows, and visits from Father Christmas - the 2000 Christmas at Dunsmuir promises to be the best ever!

Dunsmuir House is open to the public during the holidays on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays December 1 to 3, 8 to 10, and 15 to 17. Admission is $13 for adults, $12 for seniors (age 62+), $9 for juniors (age 6 to 13); children under 5 and current Dunsmuir members get in free. The Christmas Tree
The Christmas Tree, by Julie Salamon (Random House, 1996; $6), is a charming tale about the gardener who has the great responsibility each year of selecting and decorating the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
