Bird-Watching for Children
Bring your children ages 7 and older to a free bird-watching tour/nature hike through the San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum on the first Saturday of every month, from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the main gate near the garden bookstore, and bring binoculars and a pencil. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

In the Company of Stone
In the Company of Stone, by Dan Snow (Artisan Publishing, 2001; $22.50), is a book dedicated to the art of the stone wall. Dry stone walls are built without mortar, and many have withstood the test of time. This is basically a pictorial book, but it does include instructions for building stone walls. It also discusses the various types of dry walls, including curved, staggered, spheres, and staircases.
