Clever Gardening Technique

Don't Judge a Rind By its Color
Citrus harvest is in full swing, but how do you tell when fruit is sweet? The most reliable method is the taste test! Rind color changes in response to temperature, so fruit may be sweet although the rind is still green. The longer citrus stays on the tree, the sweeter it becomes. So pick only what you need and let it "sweeten up." Of course, don't leave it hanging on past its prime. If you can't eat all of the fruit your tree produces, share it. Organize a neighborhood harvest, and donate the fruit to food banks.
