A to Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants
The American Horticultural Society's A to Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants, Dr. H. Marc Cathey and Christopher Brickell, Editors-in-Chief (DK Publishing, 2004; $80) is just what its name implies: a comprehensive, alphabetical listing of garden plants. With 15,000 individual plant entries, chances are you'll find any plant you want. Entries describe the plants' growth habits and anatomy, hardiness, propagation, and pest problems, and include details about individual species or varieties. This is a solid reference tome, not a book most people will want to cuddle up with on a rainy day. But if you need to know something about a plant, you'll know where to find it.
