West Nile Virus in Florida
It's that time again, dear readers: summer means mosquitoes, and mosquitoes mean West Nile virus. Brevard County, Florida, has this History of the West Nile Virus Web site with lots of information, including ways to avoid it, how it spreads, and where standing water may lurk in your garden. The site is easy to read and navigate, and is appropriate for most any age group.

Favorite or New Plant

Impatiens 'Fusion Glow'
Hooray for new plants that take shade and humidity and keep on blooming! The new "Exotic Impatiens," with their new look, aren't your mama's impatiens! The flowers hark back to old-fashioned sultana to some eyes, with more distinctly lobed petals than other impatiens. The leaves are rounder and somewhat lighter green, and the plants produce nice mounds covered in flowers in no time with regular applications of water and fertilizer.
