The New Age Herbalist
The New Age Herbalist is a valuable resource for the armature herbalist. It provides not only growing requirements for various types of herbs, but also lists their uses for aroma therapy, dyes, insect repellents, medical treatments and soothing potions and salves. The book contains color photographs of each particular variety and the index makes it easy to find the information contained within the pages. All in all, a handy book to have on hand. Burlingame Blower Ban
Following in Palo Alto's footsteps, the City of Burlingame is considering a partial ban on leaf blowers. Hours of operation would be restricted to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends and holidays.

To solve the problem and ease the concerns of citizens, the City Council is looking at three separate noise abatement ordinances, rather than only one, for enforcement reasons. The planned ordinance will allow only property owners to use blowers on Sundays. In addition, blowers would be restricted to 65 decibels and commercial operators or gardeners for hire would have to take a class to be certified.
