Web Finds

Hummingbirds.Net is a great source for all you hummer-lovers out there. It has information on attracting, watching, feeding, and studying North American hummingbirds. Perhaps best of all, the Web site is filled with lovely photos of all the species we have in North America.

Favorite or New Plant

Masterwort (Astrantia spp.) is a lovely perennial that has become a favorite recently because of its unique flowers and hardy habit. A traditional cottage garden flower, the plants branch into several wiry stems with silvery pink to red flowers, depending on the cultivar. The 1- to 3-foot-tall plants have a long blooming season in summer and grow well in full sun to partial shade. They are lovely companions to ferns, astilbe, and ligularia in the shade.
