Visit Monticello, former home of Thomas Jefferson, on August 6 for their Summer Fruit Tasting. Located in the Virginia Piedmont, Monticello is about two miles southeast of Charlottesville and approximately 125 miles from Washington, D.C.

Enjoy early apples, peaches, figs, grapes, nectarines, apple cider, blackberries, pears, and others seasonal fruits. The program includes short talks on the history of fruit growing in Virginia. Reservations required; call (434) 984-9822. Meet at the Monticello Garden Shop, 9:30 a.m. Cost is $10. For more information, visit the Monticello Web site at
