Annual Fall Plant Sale
Quail Botanical Garden's oldest tradition and biggest fundraiser -- their annual fall plant sale -- will take place on Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature a wide variety of plants: drought-tolerant, California natives, cacti, succulents, bromeliads, bamboo, fruit trees, and subtropicals. Also for sale: books, tools, crafts, gourmet jams and jellies, baked goods, and lunch. The gardens are located at 230 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, 92024. Clever Gardening Technique

Paring Transplants and Weeds
Use an old paring or putty knife to cut transplants out of a flat, weeds out of the soil, or to aid harvesting.
