Tool or Gardening Product

Spinosad is one of the newest kids on the block when it comes to natural pest control products. Made from a soil bacterium that's fermented, Spinosad is effective against a variety of different insects, including tomato fruitworms, pinworms and hornworms; cabbage loopers, Colorado potato beetles, thrips, and European corn borers. Gardeners wanting to avoid synthetic chemicals will find this new product sold under several brand names to be a helpful addition to the garden shed.

Clever Gardening Technique

Clean and Oil Your Tools
Here's an idea to recycle your old motor oil and to prevent shovels, hoes, and other garden tools from rusting, especially when they are in storage over the winter. Place some coarse sand in an old metal bucket. Pour some used motor oil evenly over the sand in the bucket. Push a shovel or spade into the sand several times to clean away extra dirt and to oil the blades to deter rust.
