Clever Gardening Technique

Use a Bulb Planter to Propagate Ground Covers
As vining ground covers begin to make their appearance in the spring, often we find the need to thin them or simply take cuttings for another area of the landscape. One of the simplest methods I've found for taking cuttings of vinca, creeping wintercreeper, English ivy, barren strawberry, and any number of other low ground covers is to use a bulb planter. Push the bulb planter into a thick area of the ground cover, twist and lift. Voila! You have a plug of ground cover to plant elsewhere.
