ONE: An Earth Installation by Stanlee Gatti
"ONE: An Earth Installation by Stanlee Gatti" opens November 17th at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. A celebrated designer and artist, Gatti reflects on the interconnectedness of all living things in his very first public exhibition this winter. The exhibition brings together Gatti's famous flair for floral design and his distinctly artistic approach to creating totally original, contemporary environments. The exhibition runs through April 15, 2007, Tuesdays-Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's free with admission to the Conservatory. For info, call (415) 666-7001, or visit:

A special opening preview party will be held on Thursday, November 16, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person, and all proceeds benefit the Conservatory of Flowers. For info about the preview event, call (415) 831-2080.

Clever Gardening Technique

Ant-Proof Hummingbird Feeders
Keep bird feeders clean and full for migratory birds. Even hummingbirds will appreciate a rest stop on their way south. To prevent ants from getting into hummingbird feeders, create a water barrier by sliding an aerosol can cap over the hanging part of the feeder, with the open side up. Drill or poke a hole in the cap, slide over the hanger, and then fill in around the hole with epoxy glue to prevent leaking. Then fill the cap with water to keep ants out of the feeder.
