Proven Winners
Proven Winners is a brand used by three major plant propagators in the U.S. Their goal is to introduce the best, most unique, most high-performing plants. Most of their introductions are annuals, but there are also other types of plants. Their Web site provides a wide range of information on gardening, but it is the ideas for containers that stand out. If you've wanted to have more adventurous and successful container plantings, then spend time on this site this winter as you dream about next year's garden.

Clever Gardening Technique

Photo Album for Seeds
Usually I place my leftover garden seed in vacuum-sealed bags and store them in the freezer, but I recently saw another option in a gardening magazine. The reader placed her partially used seed packets into a small photo album that had individual pages for 4- by 6-inch prints, which are the perfect size for holding seed packets. She attached a sticky note to the front of the page with her comments on the variety. Although I may still use the vacuum-sealer for long-term storage, I do like the idea of the photo album for keeping the seeds organized for hauling back and forth to the garden.
