Identifying Butterflies
To identify who's been flittering in your garden this summer, check out the Butterflies of North America Web site at It has great photos, including shots of the eggs, larvae, and pupae of some butterflies. With this information you'll know which creatures to leave alone in your garden.

Shows & Events

ArborFest and Plant Sale
ArborFest at the California State University at Fullerton Arboretum, October 14-15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is one of the big fall events in our area. This event, and its spring mate, Green Scene, are THE shows to bring the whole family to for plant-oriented fun. Exhibits, demonstrations, and entertainment are plentiful; and the plants and crafts are of superior quality and quantity. I go every year and always come home with a wagonful of goodies for friends' gardens as well as my own. Admission is $5, children 17 and younger free. For more information and a schedule of events, call 714-278-4790.
