National Weather Service
Weather have you baffled? Though it won't change a thing, understanding what's happening helps. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service Web site has many useful features. From day-to-day temperature, wind, and precipitation forecasts to weekly views, monthly and three-month projections. Info is presented in text and graphic forms. There's also Prognostic Discussion of El Nino, Trends, Oscillation, Sea Surface Temperature Anamolies, and more. Who knew?

Worm Composting Workshop
This Sunday, Jan. 21, The Tyler Arboretum in Media, Pennsylvania, will host a worm composting activity from 2 to 4 p.m. Vermicomposting (composting with worms) is a fun and easy way to dispose of kitchen waste, is faster than regular composting, and can be done indoors all year long. Mark Highland, owner of The Organic Mechanics Soil Company, will explain the ins and outs of vermicomposting. Class fee includes everything to get started immediately: a worm workbook, a completed worm bin, and one pound of worms. Pre-registration is required; $27 members, $32 nonmembers.
