The Cactus and Succulent Society
The pages of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America site are dense with photos so they may take a moment to load even with a high speed connection. But there is plenty of information here to explore, and a good chance you can identify that plant you collected along the way.

Favorite or New Plant

Flame of the Woods
Such a romantic-sounding name, but the plant called Flame of the Woods (Ixora coccinea) is not ethereal at all. Native to tropical climes such as south India and Sri Lanka, it has become very popular in recent years as new colors and dwarf varieties have been introduced. The classic red Flame grows 5 to 10 feet tall and blooms profusely in morning sun and afternoon shade. Newer colors include yellow and orange, and nifty dwarfs like 'Nora Grant' make superb container plants.
