Ockham's Razor
Ockham's Razor, The Humble Earth Worm is a fun, fascinating read with great word pictures (worm poop is called "the agricultural equivalent of Viagra"). Imagine earthworms "crawling from dinosaur pat to dinosaur pat." Did you know that Cleopatra banned worm export from Egypt? Those tidbits and more in this delightful interview -- Australian Robyn Williams talking with Environmental Manager Caren Trafford of Vermitech in Brisbane, New South Wales.

Perky-Pet Squirrel-be-Gone Wild Bird Feeder
Squirrels chewed through the bungie cords holding the lid on my metal trash can where I store sunflower nibs. It seems Chester County rodents are hard core. So far, the Squirrel-be-Gone feeder has them stumped, though the gray squirrels scour the ground below for tidbits. The feeder consists of a metal box with springs over a clear plexiglass or plastic box holding bird food. The outer metal box on springs lowers with the squirrel's weight, essentially covering the feeder openings. This design seems to work (I have had to reattach the springs). Cost is about $29.
