Cincinnati Flower Show
Cincinnati, Ohio, bucks the tradition of flower shows being held in the winter by holding the annual Cincinnati Flower Show in April. This year the show runs April 21 to 29, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Staged on the banks of Lake Como at historic Coney Island, the show is noted for its gardens (courtyard gardens, patios, terraces, and decks this year), floral designs, container plantings, windowbox gardens, individual plant exhibits, and table settings. This year there is also a Fine Food Show, Going Green exhibits on earth-friendly choices, and From Farm to Table with local farmers. In addition, there is a Gardener's Market, Lecture Series, Plant Market, Ask-the-Experts, and Afternoon Tea. The show is handicapped accessible. Tickets are $20 for adults at the gate or $15 with advance purchase; children 3-12 are $5. Tickets are available at area Kroger stores or online at:

Their Web site has a very good "frequently asked questions" section about these poisonous plants and subsequent rashes (
