Invasive Plants of Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Web site is a great place to start the watch for invasive plants. There are photos and action plans that everyone can take part in. You can even become an official Wisconsin Weed Watcher if you choose. This one is for Wisconsin, but many other Midwestern states have their own sites as well.

Favorite or New Plant

Variegated Calamondin Orange
Variegated calamondin orange (Citrus reticulata 'Calamondin Variegata') is a lovely tropical plant that's a favorite on my windowsill through the winter and then on the patio in summer. It has bright green foliage with creamy yellow margins, and the fruit is actually striped yellow and green before it matures to yellow. It will have sweetly scented orange blossoms, striped fruit, and yellow fruit all at the same time -- a stunning combination. Give the plant a sunny windowsill with regular watering and fertilizing, and throughout the winter you will be supplied with these pungent fruits that make the best marmalade ever. A partially shaded spot on the patio is best for the summer.
