Mother's Day Buffet
Here's a great idea for a Mother's Day celebration for plant-loving moms: The Tucson Botanical Gardens' greenhouse will showcase blooming specimens from the Tucson Orchid Society, and the new Zen Garden will feature exhibits from the Tucson Bonsai Society. After strolling the gardens, top off the day with a Mediterranean-style buffet brunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Garden is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Admission is $5 adults, $2.50 for children 6-12, free for children 5 and under and members. Buffet is $15. Although there's no reserved seating, you must still RSVP for the buffet by calling (520) 326-9686 ext. 10, or e-mailing: For more details, visit:

Feather Bush Tree
Feather bush tree (Lysiloma microphylla v. thornberi) is an Arizona native tree or large shrub featuring feathery foliage, which creates a lush, tropical appearance with its umbrella canopy. This tree takes full or partial sun and grows to 15 feet tall and wide. Small, creamy puffball flowers appear in late spring to early summer. Although it has no thorns, this tree drops a fair amount of litter, so keep it away from pools.
