Thousands of tulips will be showcased at Tulipmania at PIER 39 from Wednesday, February 13 through Monday, February 18. The breathtaking tulip displays are produced by the PIER 39 Landscape Department, which continues to experiment with new tulip varieties from the United States and Holland every year. Visitors are welcome to join landscaping tours each day at 10 a.m. All guided tours depart from PIER 39's Entrance Plaza. For visitors unable to attend the tours, the tulips are in clear view for the public at anytime.

Organic Lawn Care
"Just say no to lawns on drugs!" The Organic Lawn Care Manual, by Paul Tukey (Storey Publishing, 2007; $19.95), is an ideal book for "green" gardeners or homeowners who want to save money on pesticides and fertilizers. There is a calendar for lawn maintenance, a section on sprinklers and how to get the most from them, selecting the correct turf grass for organic growing, and everything you ever wanted to know about soil care. The entire book is illustrated with wonderful color photographs. Paul Tukey has done a wonderful job with his book. If you are at all interested in organic gardening and have a lawn on your property, I recommend reading this in-depth manual.
