Favorite or New Plant

Phlox paniculata 'Nora Leigh'
Want butterflies and hummingbirds in your garden? Plant 'Nora Leigh', a border phlox that thrives in partial shade (4 to 5 hours of sun a day). With pink-eyed white flowers atop white/green variegated foliage and mildew resistance, this perennial is a must-have.

Good Bug, Bad Bug
Bugs can be baffling. Which are beneficials? Which are pests? What do their larvae and eggs look like? Jessica Walliser's Good Bug, Bad Bug (St. Lynn's Press, 2008; $16.95) is sooo helpful and easy to carry and use. Each bug gets its own two-page spread with good photos, description, life cycle, damage, and preventative action or tips for attracting the good guys. Spiral spine makes for easy opening and reading; thick, coated pages are easy to turn and durable.
