Canyon Penstemon
Penstemon flowers are surefire hummingbird magnets. Perennial Penstemon pseudospectabilis offers intensely colored rose-purple flower spikes. It blooms in spring in the low desert, in full sun to partial sun. Native to the Southwest, it is cold hardy to zero degrees, so it will perform at mid-level elevations as well. Let flowers dry and set seed on the plant and it will self-sow year after year.
