Scarecrows in the Garden
The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents its annual Scarecrows in the Garden exhibit in October, Tuesdays through Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This year features more than 100 original scarecrow designs created by local organizations, businesses, and individuals. Weekends include activities for the whole family. Thursday evenings adults can enjoy the Fest-of-Ale until 10 p.m., which features a different variety of fine specialty beers and lively musical entertainment each week. For more information go to:

Preserving Summer Flowers
There are many ways to preserve summer flowers, and Drying Flowers and Foliage for Arrangements Web page from the University of Missouri Extension provides details on many of them, including air drying, pressing, drying in silica and other materials, microwave drying, and preserving with glycerin. The extensive plant lists will help you plan next year's gardens, too.
