Compost and Gardening Humor
Spring Gillard's Diary of a Compost Hotline Operator -- Edible Essays on City Farming (New Society Publishers, 2003 ) is a hoot! Buy all the copies you can find and give them to all your friends. Better moodlifter than Prozac, as they say. Gillard, as compost hotline operator, tells a garden yarn like a great standup comic. For example, from her November 3 diary -- "Worm Connoisseurs -- A woman called the hotline wondering how she should go about "decanting" her worm bin. Naturally, we inquired about the vintage before responding." That's on p. 17. It only gets better.
