Battery-Powered Tools
New favorite tools include a line of battery-powered Remington tools that help eliminate the air and noise pollution caused by gas-powered devices. I'm particularly excited about the 2 in 1 Cordless Pole Saw, which converts from a chain saw to a pole saw with a 14-foot reach. Every gardener knows one of the most dangerous combinations in the garden is a ladder and a pruning tool, as it's nearly impossible to generate the sawing momentum needed to remove even the smallest limb without losing your balance. With the Remington pole saw, I've removed water sprouts from a cherry tree, crossing branches from a crape myrtle, and downward-growing limbs from a variety of hardwood trees, all while keeping my feet planted firmly on the ground. The 18-volt battery pack provides enough energy to cut up to 150 branches measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter, and is interchangeable with a number of other tools, including a hedge trimmer, string trimmer, and blower.
