Acalypha 'Bourbon Street'
Acalypha 'Bourbon Street', a relative of the much-loved copper plant, is a super annual for colorful leaves and bulky form. In the category of annual in the Southern Coasts region and perennial in the Tropics, this plant does equally well in containers and beds with morning sun. The leaves are the main attraction in this acalypha. Where copper plant is deep with pink highlights, 'Bourbon Street' has olive green, pink, and many of the leaves have creamy edges or splotches. It is stunning!

When you want to know more about a plant, where do you look? Check out for an encyclopedia of more than 2,000 plants and lots of articles about gardening. The information is detailed enough to include both pest issues and propagation methods for each plant profiled. I learned that the acalypha that I've had so much trouble with is in too much sun, and that it's a native of New Guinea. If plant facts interest you, you'll like this site.
