Pecan and Wine Show
This unusual combination focuses on the agricultural history of the Camp Verde, AZ area and features Arizona wineries and pecan growers. Held Feb. 9 and 10 from 9 to 5 at Holloman and Main St. Sponsored by the Yavapai County Master Gardeners and Cooperative Extension. Vegetable Quiche
Cool-season veggies are perfect for this easy-to-make quiche. Saute 1/3 cup each of chopped onion, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot and celery. Let cool. Lightly beat 4 eggs with 2 cups of half-and-half (or use 1 cup milk, 1 cup half-and-half). Add 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic salt, white pepper and nutmeg. Grate 1 cup of cheese, such as Swiss, cheddar or gruyere. Mix vegetables, eggs and cheese and pour into a 9-inch pastry shell. Bake at 325 F for about 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
