The Wild Ones
The Wild Ones is an organization you must be part of if you are interested in native plants and natural landscaping. The group of dynamic horticulturists and advocates promote the establishment of native plant communities and ecologically sound landscape practices. The website has lists and resources and ideas and information- more than you can ever take in. It is the place to go to get started with any type of naturalistic or native planting.

Midwestern Wildflowers
Wildflowers of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes Region by Merel Black and Emmet Judziewica

This is a wonderful identification book and will help you in planning your naturalistic landscape, especially one to draw birds. It covers wildflowers in Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and central Canada, and has beautiful photos to help you identify unknowns. A true field guide, it is sturdy enough to throw in a pack. It also discusses flowers in their natural habitats, so gives a bit more than just identification.
