Clever Gardening Technique

Make a Bird Perch
If your agave has bloomed, leave the towering flower stalk in place for as long as possible. Birds love them as perches. Another possibility is to cut the stalk off at the base and "replant" it in a more convenient location. Sinking a section of PVC pipe or similar in the ground can serve as a "vase" to hold the stalk upright.
