Leaf Loader Lawn Clean Up Tool
Fall is my favorite season of the year. There is still plenty of good gardening weather left, and things are beginning to slow down. One chore that picks up speed is leaf raking. The new Leaf Loader by Structured Solutions makes picking up large piles of leaves easy. The Leaf Loader is a flexible plastic tarp with rigid edges sewn in, very similar to sun protecters for automobile windshields. It folds into a small circle when not in use. It folds out to four feet so that you can rake even the largest pile of leaves onto it. The best feature is that once you have captured the leaves, the Leaf Loader can be used as a funnel so that you can put the leaves into a garbage bag, garbage can or, preferably, into the opening of your composter. A strap allows you to adjust the size of the funnel opening and can also be used as a handle. This is the best idea to come around in many years! The Leaf Loader sells for about $35, looks to be very durable and is available on line at

Clean Garden Gloves
Garden gloves should be washed after each wearing by simply washing your hands with soap and water while still wearing the gloves. Remove them and rinse well, inside and out, to remove any soil or gravel that may have found its way into the finger tips. Lay the gloves out flat in a sunny protected area to thoroughly dry until the next time.
