Seed Starting Calculator
If you start seeds of vegetables, herbs, and flowers indoors, you'll find the Seed Starting Calculator Grow Guide from Johnny's Selected Seeds a handy timesaver. Simply enter the date of the your last spring frost and it will tell you the number of weeks and the dates to start seeds indoors before the setting out date, as well when it's safe to set transplants out in the garden. It contains information for a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and annual and perennial flowers.

Grafting Techniques for Ornamental Trees Class
Learn how to join parts of plants in such a manner that they unite and continue their growth as one plant. Grafting is a practical propagation method for the hobbyist, since it does not require special conditions or equipment. In this one-day class, taught by Jack Alexander, plant propagator at the Arnold Arboretum, you'll learn methods of grafting and practice making graft unions, using both deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs. Class will be held January 29 from 9 am to 4 pm in the Dana Greenhouse at the Arnold Arboretum, Boston, MA. Cost is $90 for members; $110 for non-members.
