Check Out Seasonal Color in Winter
Even if you don't plant now, the midst of winter is a good time to stroll nursery aisles to see what seasonal interest plants may offer your winter landscape and to find unusual color changes brought on by cold. That's how I found an attractive (although unfortunately unnamed) prickly pear cactus that had transformed from bluish pads to intense violet during a recent frosty spell.
