Shade Gardening
In my search for shade plants, I've found an easy-to-browse book that's full of practical information and great photographs. The aptly named Southern Shade: A Plant Selection Guide by Jo Kellum (University Press of Mississippi, 2008), is an excellent resource for gardeners like me who are gardening in shade for the first time. Though the book focuses on the basics and generally highlights well-known plants, its information is well organized and complete. Of special note is the "Get Acquainted" column on each plant, which includes a clever "Pairs well with" section that provides a head start on mixed plantings.
