Put Those One-liter Soda Bottles to Good Use
Keep the caps and screw them on tightly. Punch holes in the bottom half of the bottle with an awl. Bury the bottom half of the bottle next to a tomato plant when you plant it, angling it toward the root ball. Simply unscrew the cap and fill with water. The water will slowly leak out through the holes, watering the plant. Be sure to replace the cap to avoid anything climbing or falling into the bottle. These bottles will last two or three years if removed and stored over winter. Use smaller soda bottles for eggplants and peppers.
