Certification of Pollinator-Friendly Gardens
Thanks to reader James Hitz, Penn State Master Gardener, for this encouragement for us to help native and domestic bees. Their populations are declining through habitat loss, disease, and contact with pesticides. Penn State's Master Gardener Certification of Pollinator-Friendly Gardens is a framework to protect pollinators by planting pollinator friendly gardens and providing education. For more information, see

Small Tarp With Corner Handles
This time of year, I'm happy to have a small (10 X 10 or 12 X 12 feet), square, green, woven plastic tarp for carrying debris and leaves. Corner handles make the work easier. Prices range from $25 to $55 on the Web. I should mention I got mine many years ago; I don't recall the price or brand.
