Filoli Holiday Fundraiser
Support the gardens at Filoli by attending their annual Holiday Fundraiser. The house and gardens at Filoli will sparkle for the holidays with the spectacular nine-day Holiday Traditions event that begins Friday evening, November 25, 2011 and runs through December 3, 2011. Rooms throughout the first floor of the historic house will be transformed with a unique holiday atmosphere that will delight and inspire. Enjoy the holiday boutique, stunning decorations, garden floral displays, and festive music. Stroll the garden as it transitions into fall. Local choral and performing groups and Bay Area musicians will enhance the ambiance of this one-of-a-kind event.

Holiday Traditions is Filoli's largest and most beloved fundraiser and supports the preservation and stewardship of the historic house and garden. Visit for complete event activities and ticket information.

Foraging for wild foods is becoming more and more popular. In Foraging (Skyhorse Publishing, 2011), author David Squire guides you through the world of bounty that awaits right outside your door. Native plants, mushrooms, various seaweeds, nuts, and even wild fruit is abundant if you know what you are looking for. Blackberries, wild garlic, wild spinach, and red currant are only a few of the plants mentioned in this handy guide. I especially love the watercolor illustrations for each plant. Author Squire provides recipes for use as well as tips on storage.
