Whether you're a seasoned gardener or novice, All- America Rose Selections is a good resource for making rose selections to withstand cold winters, blustery winds, low precipitation, and summer heat. Keep A Garden Record
Make a resolution to keep a garden journal in 2013. I keep an informal journal by making notes on a calendar each year. I'll add entries daily or weekly, depending on my schedule. This helps me plan what to do and lets me look back to see what bloomed in the past on that date. It also reminds me which plants provide foliage color and seasonal interest. A journal of some kind is a good reminder of past happenings in the garden, both good and bad.
