Lawn Care Simplified
Looking for a safe and natural approach to lawn care? Twenty years after publishing his book Building a Healthy Lawn: A Safe and Natural Approach, Stuart Franklin has established a Lawn Care Simplified website to update the contents of the book in installments. Stuart presents his 37 years of accumulated knowledge and interest in organic gardening in sections on lawn care, soil improvement, mowing, aeration, clay soil, weed control, organics, and other bio-friendly products and solutions.

The Soil Food Web
Healthy plants start with healthy soil. In Teaming with Microbes: A Gardener's Guide to the Soil Food Web (Timber Press, 2010; $24.95), authors Jeff Lowenfels and Wayne Lewis help us understand the why and how in a practical and accessible way. They explain the basics of good soil practices and provide recent scientific research supporting organic gardening. This is a revised edition that updates the original 2006 publication and includes chapters on the soil organisms mycorrhizae and archaea.
