Mosquito Dunks
To keep your backyard from becoming a mosquito breeding area where getting bit is much more likely, drop a mosquito dunk into a pond, birdbath, or anywhere water collects. The active ingredient in mosquito dunks is the safe biological mosquito larvicide called B.t.i., which kills mosquitoes before they can become flying, biting, disease-carrying adults. It isn't harmful to people, pets, wildlife, or beneficial insects, just those darn skeeters! Float dunks in a pond, bird bath, rain barrel, or any pool of standing water that offers a potential breeding site. Look for this product at home and garden stores.

Clever Gardening Technique

Keep Cool
Always wear a hat with a wide brim when working in the sun. The brim should be broad enough to completely shade your face and neck. Sorry, but a baseball cap just won't do the trick. A cloth hat can be worn wet to act as an air conditioner. Water cools as it evaporates.
