Homemade Hose Guides
A wonderful way to create homemade hose guides is to insert a length of rebar (whatever height you want) securely into the ground at the corners of flower beds. Then slip a copper tube, available from the plumbing section of the hardware store, over the rebar. Top with a decorative finial, which you also can find at the hardware store. The copper will take on a lovely patina, and you now have an attractive piece of garden art as well as a nicely functional hose guide.

Magnolia 'Yellow Lantern'
This beautiful pale yellow-flowered hybrid magnolia is a magnificent focal point in the landscape. It is an upright, oval-shaped tree that grows to about 25 feet. It thrives in full sun to part shade, and does best in consistently moist, but well-drained soil. Its best feature is its large, fragrant, cup-shaped, creamy yellow blossoms that appear in spring just as the new leaves appear. 'Yellow Lantern' is adapted to zones 4-8.
