Clever Gardening Technique

Harvest Basil All Winter
You don't have to be Italian to enjoy fragrant, flavorful basil. I purchased basil from the market and made cuttings from the packaged stems. To grow your own, remove the large lower leaves, give the stem a fresh cut, and place the prepared cutting in water. In a few weeks, roots will begin to grow. Keep the rooted cuttings in your sunniest window or under plant lights and harvest a few leaves for garnishing tomatoes and mozzarella, or flavoring your favorite recipe.
