Greenhouse growers in our region turn out poinsettias by the millions, so chances are good that the ones you buy are locally grown. North Carolina is a huge producer, turning out nearly 5 million plants. But growers in other middle South states pot up plenty of poinsettias in August as well. In fact, you could almost say that we live in the poinsettia belt.
