The American Chestnut Foundation
The native American Chestnut tree population was obliterated by a blight at the start of the last century. Now, the American Chestnut Foundation (ACF) and its local chapters are working hard to restore this wonderful tree to the eastern US where it originated and grew as what might be termed the "redwood equivalent" of the eastern forests. This web site provides information about the tree, its history and its role in nature, puts you in touch with ACF news and activities, and provides copious contact information.
