Favorite or New Plant

Monkey Flower
Each year I like to try unusual annual flowers in my garden. The last few years I've been trying shade-loving annuals such as torenia. This year I've found a new favorite, the monkey flower (Mimulus). I must admit I'm a sucker for gaudy flowers and monkey flower doesn't fail to please me. It produces red, yellow or orange large funnel-shaped flowers with white, yellow, or red blotches on a 12 inch tall plant. I've placed them in two locations in my yard and the ones getting only morning sun are growing the best. As long as they stay well watered (the also like growing near ponds), they seem to thrive. Deadhead flowers to keep them producing.
