Seaside Garden Plant Workshop
If you garden near the coast, this Seaside Garden Plant workshop on August 29th at the Blithewold Mansion, Gardens, and Arboretum in Bristol, Rhode Island may be for you. As you know, the environment along the coast can be tough for gardening. Blithewold has lost many plants due to salt water, spray, and wind. They will share what they've learned through the years including what plants work, how they protect sensitive plants, and which plants to avoid.

Call (401) 253-2707 for more information and to register.

Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Organization (MOFGA)
For all the latest on the organic gardening movement in Maine and links to sites throughout New England and the country check out the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Organization (MOFGA) Web site. It not only lists educational opportunities and events such as their annual Common Ground Fair, but has updates on political items such as Genetically Modified Organisms. I particularly like their technical bulletins that list current pest and growing information such as the armyworm attacks that have ravaged many farm fields in New England this summer.
