Here's what I would like to do and hope there's a way to do it.

I'm going to make a list that will be 'relatively' long. So I'd like a way to organize it, maybe reorganize it, make changes, etc. before I create a new thread. Sort of like having a scratch pad before releasing it.

I think that a long time ago I did try to write myself a letter. Either it can't be done or I did something wrong.

A blog might be what I need altho I know that's not the purpose of a blog. If I were to use a blog, can I later cut and paste the content to the thread that I will ultimately be creating? (As noted elsewhere, I don't have a blog.) If a blog is the best solution then I'll need a little guidance about how blogs work.

If I'm not being clear (possible) about what I'm wanting to do, I'll try to restate it, hopefully more succinctly.

Thanks for any advice.

Can't you just write it on notepad on your computer. Save it and it should work fine for what you want. I have no idea if you can treemail yourself! Actually I just looked and it looks like it might be possible. Go to your profile and give it a try.

I got curious and tried it! My message didn't come through as a new message, but it is there when I go to my treemail inbox...interesting!

The problem with writing it on a notepad on my computer is formatting. Or maybe I'm not trying hard enough to get the format correct. (always possible).

I'll check to see if I can sit right down and write myself a treemail. It was a long time ago when I tried.

Neat, that it works, Joanna!
With notepad, you just click on Format and change it to the one you like.

Are you using a Mac? If so, are you using TextEdit?

I "think" you could also do a blog and keep it private.

No, I don't use a Mac. It's probably different for you if you use a Mac.

Vic — that would be good if I can cut & paste, use bb codes, and no one else could update it. I don't mind if someone stumbles on it and reads it. Just want it to be 'don't tread on me'. ✍🏻

I'm pretty sure you can do all that in a blog. @Calif_Sue would know for sure.

There is no private setting for the blog but you can turn off comments. But yes, you can cut & paste, use BB codes, and no one else could ever update it, only you have complete control of it. There is a save and preview feature that allows you to edit, correct format, add photos, etc. and when you are happy with it, publish it. Further editing can be done at any time.
Some use it for tracking seed growing and I've seen many that simply use it as a journal, nothing interesting for others to read.

Here's an older post of mine I wrote in my favorite color, green:

Yes, you can tree-mail yourself. I do it often to save important site-related notes for myself, or to save long posts that I'm working on but not yet ready to post.

Thank you all. I've been on a support call with Apple all of this time. And it was a waste of time! Aarrgh.

So do I need to know anything in particular to create a blog?

Think I'll just dive in.

It's working and I'm a happy camper. Thanks again!

I use a Mac and I always type stuff into a Word doc and save it to my desktop; then I can go back and edit as I find time. When I'm satisfied with what I've written, I copy and past it to my post, email, etc.

I think you can write in your blog, and if you don't publish it, no one else can see it.

Lin - I got my Mac after I retired and haven't had any real need to use 'Pages'. (For the uninitiated, that's Apple's version of MS Word.) And it seems like it would be a pain. I use TextEdit all of the time because I'm mostly writing notes to myself and don't care much about formatting.

Lauri - When I created my blog it gave me the option, which I took, to turn off comments.

So now I'd better get to work!

Ah yes, that's true, you can keep it in the draft mode which allows the same editing functions and never publish it if you want. nodding

I'll still be able to copy and paste the whole thing to a thread, correct?

And the formatting, such as paragraph breaks as well as BB Codes will remain the same in the thread that I'll be creating, correct?

Is there a quick way to get to my blog? I've left a few times and then it seems hard to find again.

So far my biggest problem is that when I do a preview, it only displays the preview rather than displaying the preview and the box that I'm typing in. So I'm making notes of typos, etc. Because I'm new to this, I'm a little nervous about having 2 tabs open. I'd hate to confuse the 2.

Don't know if I said why or what I'm doing. I'm making a master list of all of the spring plant sales in Texas. There's 2 in January but a lot in Feb, March and April. A handful (so far) in May. I think I'm halfway through April now and it's time to stop for awhile.
