When I try to like a post in the forums it won't let me and the Community tab at the top doesn't function. I can like a blog with no issues. I'm on an iPad but these functions worked at first. Too many likes? Shrug!

problems trying to post today

it appeared like someone was remotely controlling my mouse
when a person is allowed to use your remote to repair your
computer...

except I had no one on here with my permission
I could see them moving the mouse arrow across the page as if searching
for something on my computer while on this site..only….today

and I do not think I got my post on watching the Carolina baby
wrens this morning for the lst time in my life so close to them
each leave the nest ….I tried to download the pictures with my post
but I do not see it anywhere..

Okay, so we have two separate problems.

1) Sheri - was the mouse cursor just "drifting" across the page without you touching it, or was it actively moving a certain way even when you tried to stop it? I want to rule out the possibility of erroneous mouse inputs (laser mice in particular can suffer drift, where the mouse moves in just one direction until disturbed). If you're using a computer with both a touchpad and a mouse (or two mice connected), that also could be the cause if both where receiving inputs at the same time.

2) Marc - since you're on an iPad I assume you're using Safari. Do you have a keyboard attached, or are you just using the screen?

That's correct, I'm on Safari and using the screen.

Do you have any difficulties with Safari on any other sites, or is it just this one?

It may have been on me and I wasn't thinking. I did a restart on my device and it's working. If that is you, thanks. If it was me I do apologize. I've been on Mac for 25 years and should have tried my end first.

No worries, Marc. Dave and Jon are the ones who would have to make a change and usually we try to debug issues at the client end first, so I am glad to hear a reboot resolved the issue. Safari might have been running low on memory in your case.

Thank you for the attention and again I'm sorry for my lack of it. As I read your reply mention of my OS it occurred to me. When I began in newspapers during the 90s we had to reboot all day it seemed. I tip my hat to you.

I am on an IPad Pro /Safari and once in a while the built-in keyboard acts like molasses and jumps about and makes typing cumbersome. It usually happens when I haven't restarted my device in a couple of months. And yes, a simple restart solves it.

I'm also unable to like a post. When I click on the thumb, I am sent to the top of the page and my "like" doesn't register. I am on a Mac. Is there something specific that I should be doing? Thank you.

Hi @SparklesGarden,

Sorry to hear you're having the same difficulty. Are you using Safari? Have you got any addons that might block JavaScript or ads?

Hi - Same situation. Using Safari. I also changed my setting so that I can get pop-ups on this website, but I still can't like a post.

The restart solved the issue on my pad. I guess it's a Mac problem.

I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with Safari and the reboot on your iPad allowed an update to install, Marc.

@SparklesGarden, are there any updates ready to install your on Mac, especially for Safari?

I used Safari for a long time but began having issues with it a few years ago. My husband kept telling me that Safari was outdated and he finally deleted it from my laptop and downloaded both Firefox and Chrome ... I haven't used Safari since.

Support for Safari on Windows ended years ago, but it's still Apple's recommended browser on Mac OS. I remember having a host of issues with its rendering engine some years ago when trying to ensure my workplace's website would function across the common browsers.

Hi - Guess what...I followed Australis's advice and saw that there's an update for Safari. I downloaded the update, and now I can "like"! Thanks for the help!
