That's my first partterned daylily so I crossed it this year. I offered some seeds this swap but I forget who got them.

If it survives the winter and blooms next year I'll definitely cross it again. This year was a great bloom year but the winter was mild with no late freezes. It's definitely colder this year so Crossing Fingers! .

This is just to share. I was shocked to see this in my garden this past summer. I'm hoping it returns again. I wasn't thanking so I didn't bag it to collect seeds to try and get a new strain going.

Gorgeous! Did the daylilies bloom the first year?

I gave away my daylilies and other plants when I came south. I still miss them.

The lillies I got as seeds last year never germinated.... Guess if it isn't food, it won't grow for me...

Steve,
My lilies made a bunch of seeds that did not look viable, so I tossed them. I think some cultivars are prone to producing sterile seed. The only seed swap lilies I've had grow so far were from a commercial pack (2), but the fungus gnats got them anyway.🙁
I dibbed on some in the last swap, and they look bigger and fatter than any I have seen so far. Crossing Fingers!

This daylily took three years to bloom from seed(crosses from one of the swaps, sorry I don't recall who off hand). Makes me love them all the more.

Kelli, I have had better luck with wintersowing my daylilies than any way I have started them in my 15 years of growing them.

Leslie,
I think I'll try that for my daylily seeds. They volunteer without any assistance whatsoever if I fail to deadhead and collect the seeds before they fall. Hilarious!

Please let me know how they do for you. You are a couple of zones colder than I am. I normally plant mine in Jan. The seedlings pictured here are 5 weeks old.

So cute!!! Last couple times I started some I soaked them for a few hours and put them in a paper towel until they were ready in a few days. Worked pretty well, but maybe ill try both ways this year. I usually have so much to start outside I want to see something growing inside while I'm waiting!!! We'll see what ends up happening. If my hand casts some seeds into the water cup, I can't stop it!!! Hilarious!

Leslie, I've also got 5 amaryllis babies from your seeds too, they've been growing since end of 2017 swap, hopefully only a few more years for blooms!!!

My 30 amaryllis from Leslie from the same swap are all alive and well, although 2 are dormant right now despite bringing them inside. I'm hoping some with the larger bulbs will bloom this year, but maybe I'm over-optimistic.

Thanks for the update. I killed all of mine. Rolling on the floor laughing They were fine through the hardening off process. When I moved them from the deck to the nursery bed, still in the same prop tray, they died overnight. Maybe a deer got in there and peed on them.

When DS and I were coming in this afternoon we counted 12-13 deer in the woods across the street from our place. When they started to cross over to my house I gunned the car and blew the horn a few times. That scared them.
